Choose from 10 diverse topic areas designed to provide you with the information you need to get your jobs done safely and with confidence. Whether you want to learn more about the impact of code changes or how an emerging technology influences your work, we’ve got you covered. The NFPA® 2021 Technical Meeting will occur in electronic format again this year. Pursuant to the 2021 Temporary Technical Meeting Rules, only certified amending motions (CAMs) included in the Report of the Motions Committee will be debated and voted upon. The Report of the Motions Committee on Certified Amending Motions for the Fall 2020 revision cycle was made available on October 7, 2020 and is incorporated into the Final Report, which additionally includes CAMs for Annual 2021 and ERRS Consolidation Group 1 standards. The report posted on May 19, 2021.
Debate opens June 14 and closes June 25, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. ET. There is no need to register to participate in the debate.
To participate in the electronic voting on CAMs, you must be a continuously active member of the Association for 180 days, register to vote, and download the voting app to your smartphone. Registration for voting will be open May 19 to July 2, 2021 (closing at 12:00 p.m. ET). Voting will close on July 2, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The NFPA 2021 Annual Business Meeting will be held virtually again this year. Registration will be open from May
19 to June 21, 2021. Voting on the NFPA Board of Directors slate of candidates will be open from June 21–23 for
individuals who have been members for at least 180 days.
*NFPA Member Voting privileges begin after December 27, 2020.
The NFPA Conference & Expo is the premier fire, electrical, and life safety event. If you are passionate about fire, electrical, and life safety and interested in delivering a dynamic and engaging presentation when we gather June 6–9, 2022 in Boston, we want to hear from you!
We’re particularly interested in sessions that address the following topics:
Preparedness and Emergency Response—Includes firefighter health and safety, use of drones in emergency response, response to hazardous incidents, active shooter and hostile events, wildland urban interface (WUI) fires, and community risk reduction (CRR).
Emerging Issues—Includes sustainable and renewable energy, energy storage systems, photovoltaic systems, alternate fuel/electric vehicles, and challenges with cybersecurity.
Challenges Faced During Covid-19—Includes case studies on challenges faced during Covid-19 for emergency response, fire protection and life safety, and code compliance.
Building Life Safety and Construction—Includes construction fire safety, 3D-printed construction design and inspection considerations, fire door and opening protectives, fire and life safety considerations for health care facilities, and considerations during cannabis cultivation and processing.
Fire Protection Systems—Includes best practices and responsibilities for fire protection system inspection, testing, and maintenance, fire protection system design, fire protection installation, new fire protection technologies, and challenges faced with cybersecurity.
Code Compliance—Includes case studies on inspections, remote inspections, and inspections of cannabis facilities.
Industrial Hazards—Includes cases showing the importance of NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, and NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code, and considerations for inspection testing, maintenance, and emergency response involving combustible dust.
Informed Public—Includes cases showing innovative digital/virtual public education efforts, assuring inclusion across cultures and abilities, addressing high-risk/high-burden populations, and using NFPA materials and messages to deliver data-driven public education efforts.
Electrical—Includes electrical safety case studies and research, application of the National Electrical Code® to new technologies and emerging issues, and best practices for electrical inspections.
