China’s “119 Fire Safety Day”
activities – November 9, 2011
119 is the fire emergency call
number in mainland China. For this reason Chinese government appoints the
day of every year’s Nov. 9 as “119 Fire Safety Day”. On every Nov. 9, a
series of fire safety educational activities will be taken nationwide to
allow the public to focus on fire safety issues. On Nov. 9 2011, China marked its 21st
Fire Safety Day by performing firefighting and rescue exercises,
demonstration of rescue equipments, practicing fire emergency evacuating
and distribution of safety pamphlets throughout the country. Two major
events among the activities were: Brand new China Fire Museum was opened in
Beijing with display area of 9,500 square meters on Nov. 8 one day before
the Fire Safety Day; China Fire Department awarded pioneer volunteer fire
brigades and volunteer firefighters.
