2011 - 2014 Executive Committee

Steve Ooi, Chairman - Group Managing Director of Jaya Sarana Group of Companies.  He has 35 years of working experience in the Fire and Safety Industries. Currently Founder President, Society of Fire Protection Engineers (Malaysian Chapter), Past President, Board Member and currently Hon. Secretary of the Malaysian Fire Protection Association, Received appreciation award medal from the Director General of Malaysian Fire Department, Member of the National Fire Protection Association USA, Fire Protection Association UK, The Institution of Fire Engineers (UK) Malaysia Branch, Professional Member, Society of Fire Protection Engineers U.S.A, Life Member of the American Institute of Management, past and present President & Committee Members of many other Non Government Organizations in Malaysia. With his involvement with all these bodies, he has contributed generally by bringing into Malaysia latest field of Fire & Safety Technology.  Presently also Secretary/Treasurer of CFPA-A.

Gary KeithGary Keith, Vice Chairman – Mr. Keith is NFPA’s Vice President, Field Operations, overseeing four divisions within the organization: Regional Operations, International Operations, Fire Analysis & Research and Public Education. Gary also has management responsibility for NFPA's fire investigation activities. Gary has presided over the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, a project dedicated to public education for residential fire sprinkler systems, since its inception in 1996.  Prior to coming to NFPA in 1995, Gary worked 15 years for Factory Mutual in Norwood (Mass.) in various field engineering and management positions. During that time, he served on several NFPA technical committees and chaired the Pre-Incident Planning committee. He also served his home town community for 20

years as a call firefighter and fire protection engineer with the West Bridgewater

(Mass.) Fire Department.

 

H._RueggHubert Ruegg, Treasurer - Mr. Ruegg is General Manager of Swiss Institute for the Promotion of Safety & Security (Institute of Safety & Security) Zürich Switzerland. The Swiss Institute of Safety & Security is a service organization for risk management and corporate safety and security and works with the business world, insurance companies and the authorities for the purpose of loss prevention. Prior to joining the Institute in 1995, he was employed from 1986 to 1991 at CIBA-GEIGY AG and from 1991 to 1994 at GURIT-ESSEX AG with the following responsibilities: Member of the Executive Committee, Group Manufacturing Director of 250 employees in Switzerland, France, England, Spain and South Africa. Mr. Ruegg received a Masters Degree in Chemistry at Technical High School ETH, Zürich in 1983 and proceeded to obtain his PhD in 1986 with his doctoral thesis in Metalorganic Chemistry. In 2002, Mr. Ruegg was appointed Chairman of CFPA Europe and Treasurer of CFPA-I.

 

Hatem_Kheir_Picture_copyHatem Ezzat Kheir, Director – Mr. Kheir is General Manager of Kheir Group - Graduated From Cairo University as a Mechanical Engineer on 1981 and worked one year in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Mansoura University. He then joined a private sector company in Egypt. He worked in Saudi Arabia from 1984 until 1989, returning back to Egypt as Area Manager for international company in pump business. He is a one of the founders, and a board member of Egyptian Fire Protection Association, and represented Egypt in many international conferences in fire protection He is also the only foreign member serving in the technical committee of fire pump in NFPA, member of SFPE, USA. His company is working in the field of fluid handling systems, including water, waste water, process, fire, power and industrial applications. He presently serves as one of four Directors of CFPA-I.

 

Anders Bergqvist, Director–Mr. Bergqvist is the CEO for Swedish Fire Protection Association (SFPA) and the CEO for  the RVR Service in Sweden. Anders has a background as a Fire Protection Engineer graduated from Lund University. Prior the work in SFPA Anders worked for 15 years as an officer (operation, prevention) in the Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade and before that as a section manager at the SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden, Fire Technology, as teacher and project manager at the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and as a fire-fighting instructor in the Swedish Navy. Anders has spend great effort in combining the fire department with the research institutions and made his own research in the areas of fire in tunnels and fire fatalities.

Jesper Ditlev, Director–Mr. Ditlev is the managing director of the Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology (DBI).  DBI is a technological service enterprise that endeavors to protect lives and property by promoting active and passive fire prevention and by enhancing the level of security and fire safety.  Jesper Ditlev became Master of Science Civil Engineering in 1990. Prior to joining DBI in 2000, Jesper worked as a consulting engineer. Upon joining DBI Jesper initially headed the testing and consultancy department. From 2003 Jesper became technical director and thus member of DBI’s board of directors. Effective January 2009 Jesper was appointed managing director.

Gao Wei, Director-Mr. Gao is the secretary - general of China Fire Protection Association. Master of engineering, Senior Engineer, Senior Colonel. Prior to his current position he was the director of Science and Technology Division, Fire Department of Ministry of Public Security(MPS) managing the four fire research institutes under MPS and the national funds of fire research programs. He is also the Vice Chairman of China Flame Retardant Society. From 1996 to 2005, he was the Secretary-General of National Technical Committee for Fire Protection Standardization, an organization of drafting national and industrial fire safety standards. He is the head of task group of China national standard GB20286 Requirements and mark on burning behavior of fire retarding products and subassemblies in public place and industrial standard GA/T 396 Basic data elements and codes of fire services information. As an Assistant Engineer he worked for Shanghai Fire Research Institute for 5 years in 1980s.
